“Wellness Wednesday”
An in-person extension of Y-415 Connection! I am teaming up with my high school campus (Kamiak High School) to offer a space for students to take a break for self-care and well-being while being exposed to Early Music. More information about this project posted on Y-415 Connection’s Instagram.
Check Out My Project Titled “Y-415 Connection”
“Y-415 Connection” is an Early Music youth-to-youth outreach project that I started January 2023. I release weekly information on Instagram and YouTube that covers an array of topics related to Early Music. My goal with this project is to give a youth perspective about Early Music to other youth. I hope to engage and share information with my peers on Early Music and Historical Performance to help shape the next generation of musicians and audience members alike.

Meg Quigley Bassoon Symposium
Sunday, January 8, 2023
I presented with Dr. Anna Marsh at the 2023 Meg Quigley Bassoon Symposium on Sunday, January 8th. Our presentation was titled An Introduction to Baroque Style for Pre-College Students. We introduced the Baroque bassoon and Baroque playing style to a group of pre-college modern bassoon students and modern bassoon professionals with a focus on playing articulations and ornamentations. Topics covered include:
What is the Baroque Bassoon?
What is Baroque Playing Style?
Baroque Style on a Modern Bassoon
Trials and Rewards of Baroque Style and Why It Matters
How to Get Started and Where to Find Support
This was an amazing experience, and a huge thank you to Dr. Anna Marsh and the administrative team at Meg Quigley for allowing me this opportunity!

11th Grade U.S. History
October 7, 2022
I had the opportunity to teach an 11th grade U.S. History class about both the modern and Baroque bassoon. I brought both instruments to class and talked about the history and difference between instruments. I then played each instrument demonstrating different styles and tones. My purpose with this demonstration was to connect something musically to what was happening in society during the (1600-1700) time period. I also took this opportunity as a way to introduce both instruments to students that might have very limited knowledge or access to the bassoon. I was able to connect how pop culture music is rooted in Baroque style music, and I was able to show that this style of music is both beautiful and fun for youth. A huge thank you to my history teacher Mr. McLeannan for allowing me this opportunity!
